Samsung Electronics Holds ‘2012 Global Strategy Meeting’

SEOUL, KOREA --- During the 15th and the 16th, Samsung Electronics held the ‘2012 Global Strategy Meeting of the DMC Division’ at Suwon Samsung Digital City with some 400 employees in and outside the country including the CEO & Vice Chairman Choi Gee-sung, the Head of the DMC Division’s Business Department and the Regional Director in Charge.

 

With chief management at present for the first time since the reorganization which was carried out on the 14th, the DMC Division’s business strategies were shared and primary issues were discussed in this meeting.

 

CEO Choi Gee-sung assessed the performance of the year 2011 and encourage the attendees by saying, “Despite the global recession, we were able to retain satisfactory growth, and in particular, the mobile business centered around smart phones made significant growth in sales as well as leading rapid growth in emerging markets such as the Middle East and Africa.”

 

CEO Choi also emphasized that “Although reshuffle in the electronics industry is expected with the barrier break between industries as well as the acceleration of use for smart devices during the continuous global recession in 2012, we must prepare for this uncertain future with firm market leadership and implementation of the risk management system.

 

CEO Choi selected the following as the primary issues for 2012; ▲ creating discriminative new values ▲ intensively strengthening competitiveness for the future, and ▲ improving the constant risk management system.

 

First, they plan to focus on creating discriminative new values by securing differentiated software competence based on their hardware competitiveness. For their main business lines such as mobile devices and TVs, they will retain their market leadership by expanding their discriminative software competence based on their hardware competitiveness, and for their businesses in promotion such as home appliances and digital imaging, they have set the policy of securing premium leadership with product differentiation. Also to improve their overseas branches’ B2B business execution capabilities, they plan to strengthen their B2B solutions, services and business marketing.

 

In addition, they will continue their search for pioneering business for the future while pushing forward with pre-vitalization for new businesses such as medical equipment for intensively strengthening their future competitiveness. In particular, they have plans to establish an exclusive organization and secure outstanding workforce in order to strengthen their software competence. And their policy is to build up a software platform and to strengthen their operations for overseas research facilities for increasing their competitiveness.

 

Meanwhile, they will continue their efforts in strengthening preemptive response system for the risk factors by improving the constant risk management system for chances of risky situations are increasing due to uncertainty of the global economy.

 

CEO Choi Gee-sung passed along a request by saying, “We must prepare for the uncertain future with firm market leadership and implementation of the risk management system in spite of today’s environment of the continuous global recession and cataclysmic changes in the electronics industry.”

 

The DS Division’s meeting will be held on the 19th at the Gi-heung Samsung Nano City with some 150 employees at present including Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun, the Head of the SemiconductorsㆍLCD Division’s Business Department and the heads of overseas branches.
