YEOSU, KOREA – A tantalizing glimpse at a handful of robots to be displayed at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea was given recently at the Yeosu Expo site, grabbing much attention. The Organizing Committee on March 29 presented five robots out of 73 that will be exhibited at the DSME Marine Robot Pavilion during the Expo. The five robots include four subordinate ones, named “Coll,” “Torna,” “Sparky” and “Shiny,” built in the shapes of marine creatures like crab, sea snake, squid and starfish, and the “Navi,” the tallest robot ever introduced in Korea.

Standing at 6.5 meters tall and weighing 1 ton, the Navi is so huge that an adult only comes up to its knees. Led by Navi, this fleet of robots will present the performance of marine resource exploration and mineral mining in a 6,000-meterdeep virtual underwater environment. Visitors can expect an exciting deep-sea adventure led by these fascinating robots.

Myriad futuristic robots await visitors in the different zones of the DSME Marine Robot Pavilion. “EVER” is a feminine robot that has 30 different facial expressions, and “MERO” dances to famous songs by Korean boy band Super Junior. A total of 73 robots, including a seven-color robot fish that looks like black porgy and robots from other countries such as the United States, United Kingdom and France, will be put on display during Yeosu Expo.
