PARIS, FRANCE - The French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said his government would do everything to support STX France. According to STX on January 23, Prime Minister Ayrault visited its Saint-Nazaire shipyard on the 22nd and said, "The shipbuilding industry is contributing in a meaningful way to local economy and industrial development by creating jobs and boosting productivity. Our government will provide support to STX France as much as possible."
The Prime Minister complimented STX France for winning an order of the world's largest cruise boat and showed high expectations on its economic spillover effects. The French government supported most of the cruise ship building cost in the form of project financing.
The Prime Minister's visit to STX France shipyard was accompanied by Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici and Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg.
An STX official said, "The visit to our shipyard by the Prime Minister signifies the strong will of the French government to support the shipbuilding industry to create jobs and revive the economy."

[유럽서 빛나는 한국기업] 프랑스 총리 "STX 적극 지원"
장마르크 애로 프랑스 총리가 STX프랑스에 대한 적극적인 지원을 약속했다.
23일 STX에 따르면 애로 총리는 지난 22일(현지시간) STX프랑스의 생 나제르 조선소를 방문해 “조선산업이 생산성 증대와 일자리 창출로 산업 발전과 지역경제 성장에 크게 이바지하고 있다”며 “STX프랑스가 선박 건조 경쟁력을 극대화할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다. 김서주 STX유럽 사장의 안내로 작업 현장을 둘러보고 그는 “특히 유리한 금융 지원을 받을 수 있는 시스템을 마련하겠다”고 말했다고 STX 측은 전했다.
애로 총리는 지난달 세계 최대 규모인 오아시스급 크루즈선을 수주한 STX프랑스의 경쟁력을 높이 평가하고, 경제적 파급 효과에 대한 기대감을 나타냈다. 프랑스 정부는 STX프랑스가 크루즈선을 수주할 때 선가 대부분을 프로젝트 파이낸싱으로 지원했다. 애로 총리의 방문에는 피에르 모스코비치 재무장관, 아르노 몽트부르 산업장관이 동행했다.
STX 관계자는 “애로 총리의 조선소 방문은 경제 성장과 일자리 창출을 원하는 프랑스 정부의 강력한 지원 의지를 담은 것”이라고 평가했다.
