SEOUL, KOREA - Nexus 4, a smartphone model created by LG Electronics and Google is likely to be released in Korea next month at the earliest.
The Nexus 4 has received radio approval by the National Radio Research Agency on January 23. An LG Electronics official said, “As soon as we get the radio approval, we will release the Nexus 4 in Korea.” The Nexus 4 is expected to be released within next month at the earliest or by the end of the first quarter at the latest.
The Nexus 4 is primed with a 4.7-inch screen, Qualcomm’s latest Quadcore processor, and an 8-megapixel camera. The Nexus 4 will be appointed with the Jelly Bean operating system. The retail price of the Nexus 4 is expected to stand at around 500,000-600,000 won here in Korea.

넥서스4 이르면 내달 국내 출시…가격이 '변수'
LG전자와 구글이 함께 만든 레퍼런스(기준이 되는 제품) 스마트폰인 '넥서스4'가 이르면 다음 달 께 국내에 출시된다.
24일 관련업계에 따르면 넥서스4는 전날 방송통신위원회 산하 국립전파연구원의 전파인증을 통과했다. LG전자 관계자는 "전파인증을 통과함에 따라 넥서스4를 국내에서 출시할 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
업계에서는 빠르면 다음 달 늦어도 1분기 안에는 제품이 판매될 것으로 보고 있다.
넥서스4는 4.7인치 화면에 퀄컴의 최신 쿼드코어 프로세서와 800만 화소 카메라 등을 장착해 높은 하드웨어 스펙을 자랑한다. 레퍼런스폰이기 때문에 구글의 젤리 빈 운영체제(OS)에 최적화된 것도 장점이다.
특히 40만원 대의 저렴한 가격에 미국과 유럽 등지의 온라인 판매 과정에서 일부 매진 사태가 벌어지기도 했다. 다만 국내 출시 가격은 이보다 다소 높은 50~60만원대가 될 것으로 전망된다.
업계 일각에서는 넥서스4가 이동통신사를 거치지 않고 자급제폰으로 판매될 수 있단 관측도 나오고 있다. 자급제폰으로 판매되면 소비자들은 단말기만 구입해 기존에 쓰던 유심을 꽂아 사용할 수 있다.
LG전자 관계자는 "정확한 출시일, 가격, 판매방법 등은 아직 정해진 것이 없다"고 말했다.
