SEOUL, KOREA - Paldo, a Korean instant noodle maker, announced on January 31 that it achieved exports of 55 billion won last year. This figure is equivalent to 15 percent of its total sales. Paldo marked a year-on-year growth of 21.5 percent in 2012 and 27.7 percent in 2011.Key factors behind the increase in Paldo’s exports included the exploration of new markets and new dealers overseas. To expand its export outlets, Paldo newly explored 17 new dealers and 4 new countries last year, including Brazil and Singapore.
By country, Russia came on top in terms of export amount with 14 billion won. Indonesia registered the highest growth rate of 108 percent. In China, Paldo achieved sales of 3 billion won, up 78 percent year-on-year, mainly thanks to the growing popularity of its “Pororo” drink.
By product, Paldo’s flagship instant noodle “Kokomyeon” created overseas earnings of 3.5 billion won, playing a leading role in the growth of Paldo’s overall exports.
