SEOUL, KOREA – On January 31, Hyundai Information Technology (HIT) announced that it signed a contract with the Hanoi government to build a portal system. The winning of this contract- i.e. exporting Korea’s e-government system to Vietnam- was the fruit of close cooperation among HIT, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) and National Information Society Agency (NIA).
HIT will make the Hanoi government’s existing portal system more sophisticated based on the Korean e-government system’s framework. For instance, gateways to other institutions’ portals and an online portal for the employees of the Hanoi government will be set up. Hardware, software and educations on management and technologies will also be offered.
The Hanoi government, which stands at the forefront of embracing ICT in Vietnam, looks to respond to technological demands rising from the city’s fast-growing business by upgrading its portal system. CEO Kyong-Soo Oh of HIT said, “As Korea’s e-government ranked atop the UN E-Government Survey, the technology transfer of our e-government system has gained momentum. Building on this project to export Korea’s e-government system to Vietnam, HIT will seek more opportunity to spread Korea’s e-government framework overseas.
