SEOUL, KOREA – In 2012, Samsung Electronics’ smartphones and refrigerators came out on top for the first time in terms of global market share. The global share of Samsung Electronics’ existing No.1 global products, such as TVs, monitors and commercial large format displays (LFDs) also rose even further.
According to the electronics industry, a total of 11 Samsung items ranked first in global market share last year, taking Samsung Electronics’ 2012 performance to an all-time high.
According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, the global share of Samsung smartphones that accounted for 19.9% in 2011 ascended to 30.4% in 2012, snatching the global No.1 spot.

All of Samsung Electronics’ nine existing top finishers, including Dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), cemented their no.1 positions last year. A survey released by market research firm DisplaySearch showed that the market share of Samsung TVs that have finished first for seven straight years held at 26.4% in the third quarter.
