SEOUL, KOREA – On Wednesday, BD Card said it would launch a barcode-based mobile payment service in March. Barcodes created by a BC Card mobile app will enable card users to make payments at numerous off-line stores.
This service will be released through BC Card’s partnerships with KG Mobilians and Danal sometime in March. Any BC mobile card user can access this service without additional sign-up procedures.
As long as BC card users have the barcode creation app installed on their smartphone, they can make payments at a multitude of off-line stores.
Each barcode created by the app is disposable; it is effective only for less than three minutes, thus boosting safety and security. This service is scheduled to be available at nearly 30,000 member stores nationwide, including department stores, convenience stores and movie theaters. And BC Card plans to raise the number even further.
A BC Card official said, “We will spearhead efforts for convenient, safe payment services by offering diverse mobile payment services such as USIM chips-based mobile cards and mISP.”
