SEOUL, KOREA - NHN, a Korean web portal and game publisher, announced on February 7 that it posted sales of 2.38 trillion won, an operating profit of 702.6 billion won, and a net profit of 545.6 billion won last year.Year-on-year, sales grew by 12.6 percent, while operating and net profits by 7.1 percent and 20.7 percent, respectively.
Search advertising grew by 11.5 percent year-on-year to 1.20 trillion won, while display advertising rose by 16.1 percent to 346.7 billion won.
Game revenues marked a 5-percent decline to 608.4 billion won. Other revenues, including IT services and the LINE mobile messenger service, jumped to 227.7 billion won by 127.3 percent.
For the fourth quarter of last year, NHN recorded sales of 651.9 billion won, an operating profit of 200.2 billion won, and a net profit of 168.8 billion won. Thanks to the growth in sales of mobile search advertising and LINE-related services, NHN's fourth quarter sales grew by 13.8 percent year-on-year and 10 percent quarter-on-quarter.
