SEOUL, KOREA - GM Korea showcased its brand-new SUV Chevrolet Trax in Jeju's Phoenix Island Resort on February 20 and plans to kick off its sales from February 25. The Chevrolet Trax is a small SUV mounted with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine which attracted a huge attention even before launch.
After 60 months of development, GM Korea unveiled the Trax which will be sold throughout 140 countries worldwide, starting from Korea and Europe.
With a four-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, the Chevy Trax features a maximum output of 140 hp and a maximum torque of 20.4 kg.m at a 1,850-4,900 RPM. The six-speed automatic transmission mounted on the turbo engine has a fuel efficiency of 12.2 km per liter (at high speed driving 14.1km/L and city driving 11.1 km/L).
The Chevrolet Trax has a length of 424.5 cm and a width of 177.5 cm, smaller than its rival models Kia Sportage R whose length is 444.0 cm and a width of 185.5 cm and Hyundai Tucson ix (length: 441.0 cm, width: 182.0 cm).
Sergio Rocha, president of GM Korea, said, "The Chevy Trax, a small SUV created by GM's global auto development project, has largely been the outcome of engineers and designers within GM Korea. With its dynamic design, higher power in among same-class models, ideal size optimized for urban driving, spacious interior, and comfortable driving experience, it will no doubt play an important role in taking more market share in the Korean market and increasing overseas sales."
