Seoul, Korea - Samsung’s 85-inch ultra high definition TV was recognized as the best UHD TV in the U.K. after winning the same titles in the U.S. and Germany.
On Thursday, Samsung Electronics announced that its 85 inch UHD TV received the Quality and Performance Mark (QPM) certificate from Intertek, a globally recognized certifying institution on product quality headquartered in the U.K., on the 6th this month.
The QPM is granted to the products which passed vigorous testing standards, and Intertek tested the picture quality and product completeness of Samsung’s UHD TV. The QPM certificate was issued after the UHD TV was tested for uniformity of brightness and color, viewing angle and resolution.
Before Intertek’s QPM, Samsung’s UHD TV had received the UL mark in the U.S. and TUV Rheinland certificate in Germany for its superior quality.
HS Kim, the Vice President of Image Display Business Division at Samsung Electronics commented, “the certificate proves the marketability of Samsung’s UHD TV, which is the materialization of technological integration. Samsung will keep introducing products with best picture quality and performance to satisfy the particular taste of European consumers.”
Samsung is scheduled to launch the UHD TV in Korea this month, and the global launch is scheduled in May.
미국•독일 이어 영국서도 우수제품…삼성 85인치 UHD TV
삼성전자의 85인치 초고선명(UHD) TV(85S9)가 미국, 독일에 이어 영국에서도 UHD TV 부문 세계 최초로 제품의 우수성을 인정받았다.
삼성전자는 85인치 UHD TV가 지난 6일 영국에 본사를 둔 인터텍(Intertek)으로부터 QPM(Quality and Performance Mark) 인증서를 획득했다고 14일 밝혔다.
인터텍은 세계에서 제품 품질 평가 분야의 인증기관이다. QPM 마크는 엄격한 테스트를 통과한 제품에 주어진다. 인터텍은 삼성전자 UHD TV의 화질과 제품 완성도를 평가했다.
화질의 밝기와 색상에 의한 균일성(Uniformity), 시야각(Viewing Angle), 해상도(Resolution)에 걸쳐 엄격한 테스트를 진행 한 후 QPM 마크를 발행했다.
이에 앞서 미국의 `UL`과 독일의 `TUV 라인란드`도 삼성 UHD TV의 우수성을 인정한 바 있다.
김현석 삼성전자 영상디스플레이사업부장 부사장은 “유력 인증기관으로부터 최첨단 기술이 집약된 삼성 UHD TV의 제품력을 인정받았다”며 “까다로운 유럽 소비자 욕구를 충족 시킬 수 있도록 최고의 화질과 성능을 가진 제품을 계속 제공할 것”이라고 말했다.
삼성전자는 이달중에 UHD TV를 본격 출하, 국내 예약 구매 고객들에게 배송할 예정이다. 글로벌 출시는 5월로 예정돼 있다.
