Seoul, Korea - Samsung Electronics launched the 4th Innovative Technology Company Council (ITCC) at its Suwon Samsung Digital City on the 21st, to identify and incubate small-to-medium (SME) companies with advanced technology.
ITCC is a program launched by Samsung Electronics in 2010 to identify the SMEs with strong potential and incubate them to become Samsung’s business partners. The candidate doesn’t have to be a Samsung’s vendor.
The 4th ITCC is composed of 25 companies, and 5 software developers who deemed capable of developing promising software were included in the group, to put more weight on the area of IT convergence. 7 Other companies had received from Samsung the technology development subsidies ranging from KRW 500 million to 1 billion in the name of Technology Development Contest.
According to Samsung Electronics, 47 companies had joined the ITCC since its inception and generated sales worth KRW 530 billion by developing new technologies and applying them to product development. 24 companies which participated in the 1st ITCC program achieved 41% growth in sales in 2011, compared to their sales in 2009.
삼성전자, 중소기업 육성 위한 `4기 혁기회`출범
삼성전자는 21일 경기도 수원 삼성 디지털 시티에서 우수 기술을 보유한 중소기업 발굴과 육성을 위한 `혁신기술기업협의회(이하 혁기회)` 4기 출범식을 가졌다.
혁기회는 뛰어난 기술과 역량을 보유한 중소기업을 발굴하고 비즈니스 파트너로 육성하기 위해 삼성전자가 2010년부터 실시한 중소기업 지원제도다. 미거래 기업도 참여 가능하다.
총 25개사로 구성된 4기 혁기회에는 IT 융•복합기술 분야 강화를 위해 유망 소프트웨어 개발 기술 보유 기업 5개사가 포함됐다. 올해 4기 혁기회 회원사 중 7개사도 `기술개발공모제`를 통해 5억원에서 10억원 규모의 기술 개발 자금을 확보했다.
삼성전자에 따르면 혁기회는 출범 이후 지금까지 총 47개사가 참여해 신기술 개발과 제품 적용 등을 통해 5300억원 규모의 신규 매출을 창출했다. 이 중 10개사는 삼성전자와 신규거래를 통해 성장세를 지속하고 있다. 2010년 1기 혁기회 24개사는 2011년 매출이 3조4700여억원으로 2009년 매출 대비 41% 증가하는 성과를 거뒀다.
이상훈 삼성전자 경영지원실 사장은 “삼성전자는 기술력과 아이디어가 있는 중소기업들을 적극 지원하고 협력해 함께 시장을 선도하는 제품을 만들고 성장하겠다”고 말했다.
4기에 새로 합류한 김명구 테일러테크놀로지 대표는 “혁기회 가입을 통해 삼성전자와 긴밀히 협력해 신기술을 개발하고 회사도 함께 성장할 수 있는 기회로 삼겠다”고 포부를 전했다. 이 회사는 휴대폰 등에 음악이 재생되면 화면에 가사를 보여주는 기술을 개발했다.
