Before Samsung’s ‘GALAXY S4’ is released next month, its rival companies including LG Electronics and Pantech are going to set a counter fire with their new products.
The telecommunications service providers are expecting some seven million subscribers would change their service providers next month as they are about to end their two-year contract with their mobile gadgets including GALAXY S2.
Samsung’s new mobile terminal of GALAXY S4 is having a great effect on the local market even before its launch. Thus, LG and Pantech are all planning to put in the domestic market their new mobile products next month.
LG Electronics is going to release ‘Nexus 4’ in April, which was already launched in the US market last year, to make a triangle-formation offense line together with ‘Optimus G Pro’ and ‘Optimus LTE3’ to fight against GALAXY S4.
Meanwhile, it is known that Pantech is going to release a new version of its VEGA R Series next month. The company is aiming at the local market with ‘VEGA No.6 Full HD’ released early this year and a new product that is to be released next month.

다음달 삼성전자 `갤럭시S4` 출시를 앞두고 LG전자와 팬택도 신제품 대첩을 벌인다.
통신업계는 다음달부터 2년전 갤럭시S2를 구매한 고객을 비롯해 약정이 끝났거나 예정인 고객 등 700만명이 대이동할 것으로 보고 있다.
삼성전자 갤럭시S4는 출시 전부터 국내 시장 판도에 영향을 미치고 있다. 휴대폰을 교체할 소비자들이 갤럭시S4 실체를 본 후 선택하려는 경향이 강해 대기수요가 커지는 양상이다. 통신업계에 따르면 옵티머스 G프로는 14일 이전까지 하루 8000~9000대가 개통되다 최근 5000대 수준으로 떨어졌다.
여기에 방송통신위원회가 통신 3사에 추가 과징금까지 부과하면서 휴대폰 시장이 꽁꽁 얼어붙었다. 갤럭시S4 출시 전 신제품 판매량을 올리려던 LG전자와 팬택 전략에 예상치 못한 암초다.
이에 LG전자와 팬택 모두 신제품 카드를 꺼낸다.
LG전자는 4월 `넥서스4`를 국내에 출시한다. 지난해 미국 등에서 출시한 제품이지만 국내 시장엔 신제품이다. 여기에 `옵티머스 G 프로` `옵티머스 LTE3` 삼각편대로 갤럭시S4를 대응한다.
LG전자는 `옵티머스 G 프로`에 밸류팩 업그레이드도 한다. 출시된지 1개월 만에 갤럭시S4 탑재된 눈동자 인식기술 `스마트 비디오`를 옵티머스 G 프로에 추가한다.
팬택은 갤럭시S4 출시와 비슷한 시점에 베가R 시리즈 신작을 내놓을 것으로 알려졌다.
팬택은 매년 5월께 플래그십 모델인 베가R 시리즈를 내놨다. 올 초 선보인 `베가 넘버6 풀HD`와 신작으로 시장을 겨냥하는 전략이다. 팬택 신제품은 베가 넘버6보다 화면이 작은 형태로 그립감을 강조한 모델로 예상된다. 매년 팬택이 베가R 시리즈에 퀄컴 최신 칩을 넣은 것을 감안하면 `스냅드레곤 600`을 탑재한 모델이 유력하다.
업계 한 관계자는 “갤럭시S4가 출시 돼도 최근과 같은 보조금 전쟁이 일어나지 않을 것”이라며 “삼성전자의 막대한 마케팅력과 브랜드를 대응하는 것이 관건”이라고 말했다.
