SEOUL, KOREA - SK Telecom announced on May 5 that it will start providing a "Find a lost phone" service for free. This service turns a lost smartphone into a lock mode if its owner reports the loss.
When you lose your smartphone and make the report of the loss to a customer center, the lost smartphone automatically turns into a lock mode. Under this mode, the smartphone is available only for "contact the original owner" and "emergency call." Other functions are automatically locked. You can register with this service when you make the report of the loss without the needs of pre-registration.
If you make the report of the loss, the initial screen of the lost smartphone shows the text saying "This smartphone is a lost reported phone. Please help find the original owner." If those who acquired the lost phone push the "Contact the original owner" button, a call is made to the pre-registered number.
SK Telecom plans to provide this service first to Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S4. SK Telecom also plans to make this service mounted on all LTE smartphones that will come in the future.
