SEOUL, KOREA - LS Industrial Systems said on May 27 it has agreed on the 25th with Karim Aftan, the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, to widen the relationship in the areas of smart grid and solar power as well as in the areas such as the construction of power substations and power distribution control systems in which the company already engage in Iraq.
The Iraqi delegation visited the Cheongju plant on the 20th, followed by the smart grid site in Jeju Island and the company's Busan works. For the past two years, LS Industrial Systems has won projects worth US$350 million from Iraq.
Vice chairman Koo Ja-kyun said, "We will do our best to help Iraq improve its electric infrastructure." Busy with post-war reconstruction projects, the Iraqi government plans to invest up to $94.5 billion by 2017 in electricity infrastructure including the areas that LS Industrial Systems aims to win, including smart grid and solar power areas.
