SEOUL, KOREA - KT has signed an agreement with SoftBank Telecom to provide the corporate ucloud biz service for Japanese companies from May 31.
Based on the agreement, KT is supposed to support relevant infrastructure and technology through its Gimhae data center in the southeastern part of Korea and the Japan-based telecommunication service provider is going to sell the service in Japan. The service to be used there is named ‘White Cloud K’.
KT has established its own ucloud biz infrastructure in the global data center that was jointly set up together with the Japanese company.
The concerned source says that the two companies are to use a submarine fiber-optic cable dedicated line to directly link to the Japanese Internet network so as to provide the same level of speed and quality as if the server is in Japan.
KT is also planning to provide the service to Korean companies in Japan from June 18.
“Our advancement into Japan is expected to continue to create profits. And we have a plan to expand our outstanding ucloud service to the global market,” says Seo Jeong-sik, the managing director of KT.
KT 유클라우드, 일본 진출
KT가 일본 소프트뱅크텔레콤(이하 소프트뱅크)과 31일부터 일본 기업을 대상으로 기업용 유클라우드 비즈 서비스를 제공한다.
KT는 김해 데이터센터를 통해 서버 등 인프라와 기술을 지원하고 소프트뱅크는 일본에서 판매한다. 일본에서 사용되는 서비스 명칭은 `화이트 클라우드 Cloud K`로 확정했다.
KT는 소프트뱅크와 합작·구축한 김해 글로벌 데이터센터에 KT의 유클라우드 비즈 인프라를 설치했다.
이와 함께 김해와 후쿠오카 구간의 해저 광케이블 전용회선에 일본 인터넷을 연결, 중간 경로를 최소화 함으로써 일본에 서버를 두는 것과 동일한 성능의 속도와 품질을 제공한다고 밝혔다.
KT는 다음달 18일부터 일본 진출 기업에도 서비스를 제공할 계획이다.
서정식 KT 상무는 “기존 IT서비스의 글로벌 수익모델은 일회성에 그쳤으나 일본사업 진출을 계기로 지속적 수익을 창출할 수 있는 글로벌 비즈니스 모델을 확보했다”며 “KT 유클라우드 서비스의 우수성을 세계로 알릴 계획”이라고 말했다.
