SEOUL, KOREA – The Cloud Expo Korea 2013, an event that promotes the worldwide cloud industry, will be held at BEXCO, Busan, from June 27 through 29. A variety of conferences and exhibitions, designed to soup up cloud computing, are also in the wings.
Hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT & future Planning, the Cloud Expo Korea 2013 will put up 300 booths, where products produced by 100 companies will be displayed. Choi Mun-Kee, Minister of Science, ICT & Future Planning, and the Mayor of Busan, Heo Nam-sik, and other lawmakers will attend the Cloud Expo Korea 2013.
Lectures on cloud computing are also in the pipeline. Michael Hugos, Chairman of Center for Systems Innovation (C4SI), will deliver his keynote lecture on cloud computing.
Customized business consultations will take place between participating companies and civil servants from 60 developing nations. Busan has basked in much attention as an optimum city for cloud computing since an international submarine optic cable landing point is located in Busan.

클라우드 엑스포 코리아 27~29일 부산 벡스코서 개최
국내외 클라우드 산업 육성을 위한 `클라우드 엑스포 코리아 2013`이 27일부터 29일까지 사흘간 부산 벡스코에서 열린다. 클라우드 컴퓨팅 활성화를 위한 다양한 콘퍼런스와 전시회도 펼쳐진다.
미래창조과학부와 부산시 주최, 정보통신산업진흥원과 부산정보산업진흥원 주관, 전자신문이 후원하는 이번 행사에는 클라우드 관련 △단말•네트워크 △제공자 △보안•컨버전스•지원서비스 분야 300개 부스에서 100개 기업의 제품이 소개된다. 최문기 미래부 장관과 허남식 부산시장을 비롯해 국회의원, 산학연 관계자 등이 참석할 예정이다.
클라우드 컴퓨팅 관련 주제 강연도 이어진다. 비즈니스와 IT전략 컨설턴트의 대가인 마이글 휴고스 C4SI 회장이 기조강연을 맡는다. 김태원 구글코리아 인더스트리 매니저, 이주석 엔비디아코리아 상무 등 전문가들도 강연에 참여한다.
60개 개발도상국 공무원을 초청, 참가 업체와 맞춤형 비즈니스 상담도 진행한다. 부산은 국제 해저광케이블 육지접속지점으로 클라우드 산업의 최적지로 주목받고 있다.
부산시는 미음지구에 국내 최대 규모의 부산 글로벌 데이터센터 시범단지를 조성, 글로벌 IT허브 도시를 건설한다.
허남식 시장은 “부산을 글로벌 클라우드 허브로 육성하기 위한 중장기 계획을 지난달 수립했다”며 “이번 행사로 부산이 클라우드 컴퓨팅 분야를 선도하는 계기가 될 것”아라고 전했다.
