SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics will make an additional investment of US$1 billion won in Vietnam, its largest mobile phone production base. The company said on June 20 it has secured an approval from the Vietnamese government to build a 500,000-square-meter factory building in the Yen Phong industrial complex, Bac Ninh Province.
For the additional investment too, the Vietnamese government has exempted as before corporate taxes for the next four years with a 5-percent tax rate for nine years afterward. Samsung's investment in the Yen Phong industrial zone comes to $2.5 billion including the previous one of $1.5 billion.
The company is building another mobile phone production plant in the Yen Binh district, Thai Nguyen Province, with a total investment of $2 billion. The provincial government has also offered the company four years of corporate tax exemption followed by a 5-percent tax rate for 12 years.
