SEOUL, KOREA – South Korea-based KakaoTalk launched the PC version of popular mobile messenger “KakaoTalk” on Thursday. Unveiling Kakao PC, Kakao explained that it enhanced the app perfection and stability by carefully listening to user opinions obtained during the closed beta testing (CBT) which began in March.
Simply put, KakaoTalk PC moves all the functions of its mobile version to PCs. The list of KakaoTalk friends, chatting rooms, photo transmission and push and badge notifications are the same.
Mirroring user requests obtained during the CBT, KakaoTalk PC will allow users to adjust the degree of clearness of the chatting window, select notification sounds from a wider range of choices, edit their profiles and paste screen shots onto the chatting room directly. KakaoTalk PC will help users chat with their KakaoTalk friends whilst web surfing or watching a movie.
Whenever users log onto their KakaoTalk PC account, they will be notified via KakaoTalk Mobile. When they forgot to log out properly, they can do the job via KakaoTalk Mobile.

'카카오톡 PC버전' 나왔다…바로 쓸 수 있나
카카오톡이 모바일에서 PC까지 넘어왔다.
카카오(대표 이제범•이석우)는 20일 모바일 메신저 카카오톡의 PC 버전인 `카카오톡PC`를 출시했다. 카카오는 카카오톡PC는 지난 3월부터 진행한 베타테스트(CBT)로 얻은 사용자 의견을 적극 수렴해 완성도와 안정성을 높였다고 밝혔다.
카카오톡PC는 카카오톡을 PC로 옮겨왔다. 카카오톡PC는 친구목록, 채팅창, 읽음 뱃지 표시, 사진 전송 등의 기능이 카카오톡과 모두 동일해 사용자의 편의성을 높였다.
카카오톡PC는 CBT 기간에 사용자로부터 가장 많은 요청을 받은 △채팅창 투명도 조절 △알림 음원 다양화 △프로필 편집 기능 △PC 스크린샷을 `붙여넣기`로 바로 전송하는 기능을 제공한다. 카카오톡을 하면서 웹 서핑, 영화 감상 등을 동시에 즐길 수 있다. PC 환경에서 쉽고 재미있게 알림 음원을 설정하고 프로필도 편집 가능하다.
하나의 카카오 계정으로 최대 5대 PC까지 인증할 수 있고, 2대 이상 PC 에서 동시에 사용할 수는 없다. 또 PC 에 로그인할 때마다 모바일 카카오톡으로 알림 메시지를 받기 때문에 PC 로그인 여부를 확인할 수 있다. PC 로그아웃을 잊었을 때도 모바일에서 원격으로 PC 버전 로그아웃, PC 인증을 해제할 수 있다.
카카오는 “카카오톡 PC 정식 버전을 기다리셨던 사용자들이 더 편리하게 카카오톡을 이용할 수 있기를 바란다”며 “앞으로 파일 전송, 폰트 설정 기능은 하반기에 지원해 나갈 계획이며 더 편리한 커뮤니케이션이 가능하도록 사용자 의견에 계속해서 귀 기울이겠다”고 말했다.
카카오는 20일부터 25일까지 카카오톡PC 사전 예약 신청제를 실시해 사용자가 안정적인 환경에서 서비스를 이용하도록 할 방침이다. 카카오톡PC는 카카오 계정 설정으로 이메일 인증까지 완료한 사용자에 한해 사용 가능하며 모바일 기기의 카카오톡 `더보기→설정→PC버전→다운로드 예약하기`를 통해 신청할 수 있다. 26일부터는 카카오 홈페이지(events.kakao.com)에서 별도의 신청 없이 내려 받아 사용할 수 있다.
