SEOUL, KOREA- TV market is showing signs of recovery as the prices of UHD and OLED TVs drop day after day. New technology-based TVs are opening the wallets of consumers. There are predictions that the TV market will turn up from next year on the back of a possible hike in global TV demand. According to industry sources, LG Electronics is reviewing the idea of lowering the price of its 55 inch OLED TV (flat panel model) from the current 9.9 million won to 6 million won at the end of this year.
LG Electronics released 55 inch flat panel and curved OLED TVs in January and April of this year, at a price of 11 million won and 15 million won, respectively. In August, LG reduced their prices to 9.9 million won and 10.9 million won, respectively, and is now mulling
LG is not alone. Earlier than LG, Samsung Electronics also lowered the price of its curved OLED TV to 9.9 million won from 15 million won in August. The prices of UHD TVs are also declining. Samsung recently cut the prices of its 65 and 55 inch UHD TVs to 7.4 million won and 4.9 million won, respectively.
