Data centers that had been operated individually have been integrated and managed by professional teams in Daejeon and Gwangju.

More than 1,200 information systems of 43 government organizations are integrated for management and operation. Such a large number of systems provide real-time status information of system processing and operation through ‘n-TOPS’, exclusively developed for integrated operation and management of GIDC. GIDC displays an 8-layer comprehensive security framework against cyber threats such as hacking, viruses and DDos attacks.

With the business continuity management (BCM) system and disaster recovery system (DRS) installed in case of natural or artificial disasters such as fire, power failure, or terrorist attacks, the data centers provide key services in a seamless manner. The system provides the optimal operational and security infrastructure including buildings, electricity, fire protection, and air-conditioning, while providing high-quality communication services through the ‘National ICT Network’, on which government organizations are connected with each other. The government makes blanket purchases of IT resources, which are then offered to each public institution for sharing and use for its own purpose.

The average monthly amount of time wasted by system failure decreased from 67 minutes (2004 before integration) to 3.7 seconds (2012). The system features real-time detection or blocking of various cyber threats with 8-layer protection scheme, blocking DDoS attacks in 20 seconds, 2 minutes or 10 minutes depending on the type of the attack. Construction and operation costs have been greatly saved through blanket purchase of resources and integrated operation. The number of government officials who visited GIDC from 2007 to 2012 for benchmarking purposes reached 1,519 people from 108 countries. The system was exported to Mongolia (2007), Nepal (2007) and Vietnam (2011).
