"We Seek to Become World's No. 1 EPCIC Contractor"...DSME Prez.

SEOUL, KOREA- "Let's get back to the humble mindset 40 years ago when we started out and write a new page of history in the new era of ocean-going trade." Koh Jae-ho, president of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, said this on October 24 in the 40th anniversary of the company's founding at its Okpo Dockyard in Geoje Island, adding, "At the time of starting out in 1973, our nation's total export volume was US$3.2 billion. But now we at DSME alone can achieve more than four times of that number."

"Up until now, we have broken a series of world record in completing a variety of ships such as two double-hulled very large crude carriers at the same time, ultra large crude carriers, and liquefied natural gas regassification vessels. But we can't rest on our laurels too long. The success we have enjoyed for the past four decades doesn't guarantee our future. We will strive to become the world's No. 1 shipbuilding contractor in EPCIC [engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning]," he added.

The company also held a ceremony to place a time capsule with messages of the company people in its corporate promotion center to be opened in 2023.
