SEOUL, KOREA - Ottogi announced on November 27 that its Jin Ramen, introduced first in 1988, has been sold 2.7 billion units until last year, with its cumulative sales amount estimated at 700 billion won. Ottogi grabbed a share of 16.1 percent in the Korean ramen market (based on AC Nielsen surveys), ranking No. 2 right behind Nongshim.
After climbing to the No. 2 spot in October 2012, overtaking Samyang, Ottogi has continued to show an upward trend.To cope with the latest “well-being” trend of the ramen market, Ottogi reduced the sodium content of its ramen to 1,540 milligrams from 1,970.
Ottogiis also actively engaged in overseas marketing. Under the concept of making Jin Ramen brand more appeal to young consumers in foreign countries, Ottogi has organized a university student supporter group “Jin&Jiny.”
