SEOUL, KOREA - Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella met Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-Yong late at night on September 23, during the Nadella’s one-day visit to Korea.
According to Samsung Group on September 24, the Microsoft CEO began his schedule by visiting Samsung Electronics’ headquarters building in Seoul’s Gangnam.
Nadella met a handful of top Samsung managers and discussed ways to promote cooperation between Microsoft and Samsung Electronics in the areas of smartphones, tablet computers, cloud computing, and B2B businesses.
Microsoft and Samsung Electronics are now engaged in a legal patent dispute. It merits attention if Nadella’s meeting with Lee will lead to a settlement of the legal dispute.
Early last month, the Samsung vice chairman had met Apple CEO Tim Cook and made an agreement to conclude the legal dispute between the two companies in all other geographical areas excluding the U.S.
In July 2014, Microsoft filed a lawsuit against Samsung Electronics, accusing the latter of violating the Android operating system patent-related royalty contract.
