SEOUL, KOREA - The mobile DRAM and display panel market is gaining a momentum as Apple Inc. released a string of new Apple products, including iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and plans to release iPad Air 2 soon.
Market watchers expect the shipments of mobile DRAMs and display panels from Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and LG Display to increase on the back of new Apple models.
According to industry sources on September 30, the semiconductor e-commerce site DRAMeXchange predicted that the share of mobile DRAMs for use on Apple products will increase up to 25 percent next year from the current 16.5 percent.
DRAMeXchange also forecast that Samsung Electronics, which resumed its supply of mobile DRAMs to Apple, will expand its mobile DRAM output at its S3 Line (Line 17).
SK Hynix is also expected to shift its M10 Line toward mobile DRAM production after completing the construction of M14 Line in Icheon in Gyeonggi Province.
