SEOUL KOREA - LG Electronics kept its No. 3 spot in the global smartphone market for four consecutive quarters.Samsung Electronics maintained the No. 2 position, although its market share fell sharply.
According to U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics on November 26, Apple grabbed the largest market share of 32.3 percent (revenue terms) in the global smartphone market in the third quarter of this year, followed by Samsung with 24.8 percent and LG with 5.4 percent.
Following them were Xiaomi with 4.3 percent, Huawei with 3.8 percent, and Sony with 3.6 percent.Apple’s third-quarter market share represented a 4.5 percentage point increase compared to a quarter ago but a 3.8 percentage point decline compared to the first quarter.
After rising to 31.2 percent in the second quarter from 30.8 percent in the first quarter, Samsung’s market share fell sharply in the third quarter.LG, which grabbed the No. 3 spot first in the fourth quarter of last year with a share of 4.1 percent, kept its No. 3 ranking for four straight quarters.
