Samsung's PAVV line of TVs is doing excellently in the market

Samsung Electronics has virtually dominated the LED TV market in the United States with a 94.8 percent market share in the first half of this year, up 17.6 percentage points year-on-year. This was disclosed by NPD, a market research agency, on July 30.

Samsung Electronics released new LED TV products, the 6000 and 7000 series, in March and an 8000 series 240㎐ TV product in April. This prompted the electronics giant to grab a more market share in the United States. As a result, its market share there was 76.4 percent in February, but increased to 90.5 percent in March, 96.4 percent in April, 96.7 percent in May, and 96.1 percent in June.

On the strength of the brisk sales of the LED TV, Samsung Electronics won a 50.5 percent share in terms of sales volume, but 54.2 percent in terms of revenues in the 120㎐/240㎐ LCD TV market.

Especially, Samsung topped the list in the entire US digital TV, LCD TV, 40-inch and wider LCD TV, and full HD LCD TV markets -- in terms of both sales volume and revenues during the first half of the year.

Samsung LED TV Market Share

These are quite phenomenal results and just goes to show that an aggressive advertising campaign for "LED TV" can produce a great customer awareness. Unfortunately for Samsung they have just been pulled by the Advertising Standard Authority in the UK and can no longer use the LED TV moniker in their advertising. I bet Samsung in the US are hoping that the local advertising regulators do not follow suit.
