LG Innotek Develops Vertical LED Chip

LG Innotek has started the mass production of vertical light-emitting diode (LED) chips, which is emerging as a next-generation LED chip technology.

According to industry insiders, on Aug. 4 LG Innotek recently finished developing the vertical LED chip and has begun mass-producing it for lighting equipment.

LG Innotek also decided to apply the technology of creating an even photonic-crystal structure on an n-GaN-based surface and increasing the lighting efficiency to the mass-production process for the vertical LED chip.

Meanwhile, Samsung LED is also developing the technology of mass-producing the vertical LED chip.
