LG Electronics is set to release the world’s first LTE-based smartphone that is mounted with Firefox operating system developed by the Mozilla Foundation. The company announced that it has developed the Firefox smartphone jointly with Japan’s mobile carrier KDDI, and will release the industry’s first Firefox smart phone Fx0 (LGL25) on December 25.
This will be the second model following the release of the first Firefox smartphone through Brazil’s mobile carrier VIVO last year.
Fx0 is mounted with LTE modules, first among Firefox smartphones worldwide.Compared to other operating systems, Firefox OS has relatively low hardware specs, thereby being used mainly for low-priced smartphones.
LG Electronics added more features and elegance to the existing concept of the Firefox phone and make it available in LTE format.Through collaboration with a globally famous industrial designer Tokujin Yoshioka, LG Electronics uses semi-transparent material for the external side of Fx0.
