Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, one of the four largest airports in Europe, is going to sell Korean food.

The airport is one of the largest airports in Europe with 5.3 million passengers a year, which is highly recommended as the best venue for marketing Korean dishes to foreigners. There are seven retail shops for Korean food including Grab & Fly, take-out convenient stores in the transit areas.

Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. (aT) has made continuous efforts to expand its distribution networks of Korean convenience food while pushing ahead with selling ramen, beverage and snacks to the local distributors like Xenos and Albert Heijn in the Netherlands since 2012.

It has made the most of the Korean instant cup noodles’ convenience and warmth to target the takeaway stores where most of the items are refrigerated sandwiches. In addition, it took a notice that there is no need for installations to boil water because those stores have already them in place for coffee.

With the launch of Korean convenience food, aT is carrying out promotional shows using screens in the stores for this month. The shows seem quite successful because many passengers want to have convenient and warm food in busy transfer time.

“Korean dishes are being hugely welcomed for its spicy taste and high quality in Europe markets, and they are also recognized as differentiated and new kind of Asian food from the Japanese and Thai”, Young-bum Kim, branch manager of at center in Paris said, “Now is the time to target various distribution networks including convenient stores in airports when Korea is gaining its international awareness thanks to smart phones, cars and K-POP fever.”
