DataStreams, a S. Korean developer of data management solutions, held a press conference on December 23 in Seoul to unveil its new big data solution

and set out its strategies and vision for its overseas business.

At the press conference, DataStreams, which has dedicated itself to the development of data management solutions for the past 13 years, announced its corporate philosophy, business goals, strategies and visions for the future. Above all, DataStreams, which launched the TeraStream for Hadoop, a big data platform, in early 2013, took the wraps off the TeraStream BASS (Big data Archiving and Searching System) this time.

In particular, the TeraStream BASS is expected to help telecom operators in and outside the nation detect illegal use of communications networks since illegal call detection technologies that work properly on the existing networks become a third wheel on high-speed broadband networks. Making international phone calls via illegal hardware and software is prevalent around the world, but the use of illegal communications networks has been difficult to detect. Once the TeraStream BASS is put in place, real-time tracking of illegal use of communications networks becomes possible, according to DataStreams.

Featuring analyses of equipment sensor data, security log data and server log data, detection of abnormal signs, real-time, high-speed data collection and fast searching, the TeraStream BASS will help users to gain new insights into their business, says DataStreams.

Since there is a need for large heavily-equipped manufacturers of semiconductors, LCD, chemicals, steel or cars to improve their productivity through big data analytics, the TeraStream BASS’s unprecedented processing of sensor data and log data is expected to find favor with such manufacturers. DataStreams is now poised to break into somewhat unfamiliar fields to attract new customers and scale up their business value.

The performance of the TeraStream BASS, a data extraction and loading technology, is 20~100 times better than its rivals developed by global companies. DataStreams also added that the sophistication of the TeraStream BASS would continue through enduring research and development (R&D) efforts.

DataStreams is also set to overcome domestic market saturation by continuously making investment in globalizing its business and securing global competitiveness and sustainable growth engines.

“A market for the TeraStream BASS, a key product for big data analytics, will be created. Leveraging our technological prowess and product power that have accumulated for the past 13 years, we will expand existing DWs (data warehouse) into the big data realm and carry out a strategy that facilitates data analysis and utilization through data governance in order to boost both operating profit and sales,” said Lee Young-sang , CEO of DataStreams.
