LG Electronics joined hands with Germany’s Mercedes-Benz to develop a key part of unmanned driving cars. This partnership is expected to give a boost to LG Electronics’ efforts to foster automobile parts business as its new growth engine.
The Korean company announced on December 25 that it signed a memorandum with Mercedes-Benz to develop a stereo camera system.This system is a core part of the unmanned driving car. The main function of this system is to observe the risk in front of the vehicle and collect traffic information.
If this system detects any front-side risk while the car is driving, it can stop the vehicle. It takes less than 0.1 second for this system to detect and control the vehicle.
