Seoul's Guro-gu Seeking Designation as Korea's 1st Special IT Zone

Guro-gu, a tech-heavy district in Seoul, is seeking designation as the country's first special IT zone centering on the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex.

According to a report on Aug. 5 from the Guro-gu office and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Guro-gu is seeking designation for part of the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex and the Garibong district as a special IT zone with a total land lot measuring 790,000 square meters.

The Guro-gu office has recently finished working out a report on ways to utilize the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex in efforts to seek the designation as a special IT zone.

After formulating a basic design plan for the special zone, the local district office will hold a public hearing to gather opinions from local residents and submit an application to the central government by October this year.
