Samsung SDI showed off a string of brand-new electric vehicle batteries at the North America International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2015 which opened in Detroiton January 12.
Samsung SDI displayed four different types of new batteries for electric vehicles, including a 120-Ah large-capacity battery cell which is developed to ensure long-distance driving.
Also displayed is an interchangeable battery module which allows mutual compatibility between PHEV and EV. The third model is a compact design cell whose height is reduced by more than 20mm compared to existing HEV cells despite having similar capacities.
Samsung SDI also showcased low-voltage systems that are designed to replace existing lead acid batteries. LVS helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions and ensures substantial improvement in fuel efficiency.
