Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are vying fiercely to gain a larger share in the North American system air-conditioner market. Samsung is releasing a string of brand-new high-capacity models, while LG is launching new models with focus on high energy efficiency.
The two Korean electronics companies showed off their cutting-edge system air-conditioner models at the world’s largest air-conditioning exhibition AHR Expo which opened on January 26 in Chicago.
Samsung unveiled the “DVM S” which has a capacity of 16 tons, the largest among module-type system air-conditioners in the world. The DVM S is designed to reduce the installation space for outdoor fans by about 40 percent, as well as to reduce the load on the building by up to 30 percent.
LG also displayed a brand-new model Multi V 4 which is designed to improve air-conditioning efficiency by up to 29 percent compared to existing models. This model is mounted with a high-efficiency inverter compressor, with its integrated energy efficiency ratio estimated at 36, the highest level in North America.
