CeBIT will open its doors from 16 to 20 March 2015 in Hannover. The stage is set for new trends, trailblazing discussions and presentations of international product innovations. Switzerland has significantly strengthened its presence at CeBIT in recent years: the SWISS Pavilions will have twice as much exhibition space as last year; for the first time ever, ICTswitzerland has chartered flights from Zurich and Berne to bring nearly 200 participants for a one-day visit to the CeBIT. The SWISS Pavilions are an ideal platform for both long-standing, traditional Swiss companies and start-ups to showcase their products and services to customers.

The Swiss exhibitors have significantly strengthened their presence at the CeBIT in recent years, thereby enhancing Switzerland's visibility as a successful ICT nation internationally. The SWISS Pavilion in the Business Security sector is a new addition and the exhibition space in Research & Innovation has been considerably expanded.

SWISS Pavilions with brand-new technologies and innovations

This year three Swiss universities will present their brand-new technologies to international industry professionals in the SWISS Pavilion for Research & Innovation: The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) will unveil an app that can turn an ordinary smartphone into a 3D scanner by adding a camera and sensors. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (ETH Lausanne) will present its MakeSends tool, a digital safe for sending confidential documents.

The University of Zurich will demonstrate a new technology that will break new ground in aerial searches and rescue operations: without GPS or human intervention, drones are entirely controlled by an individual camera and smartphone computer, allowing them to fly autonomously in densely built-up areas, between high-rises or in the insides of buildings. Most of the start-ups from the German- and French-speaking regions of Switzerland that participate in the SWISS Pavilion for Research & Innovation receive support from the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI). This is evidence of how CeBIT's importance for start-ups has also drastically increased.

The traditional Swiss company RUAG will feature new methods and capabilities for recording and eliminating cyber threats at the new SWISS Pavilion for Business Security, with a special focus on the prediction of emerging cyber attacks. The joint exhibition stand of the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the exhibition stand shared in Communication & Networks have had an established presence at the CeBIT for many years and will certainly not be missing in 2015.

Large stage for Swiss keynote speakers

CeBIT Global Conferences will give a broad overview of the digital world with 200 prestigious speakers. Highlights will include prominent speakers such as Jamie Shea, Deputy NATO General Secretary, and Lida Yan, President of the Huawei Enterprise Business Group. This year, for the first time ever, speakers from Switzerland will make presentations at the Global Conferences with Professor Marc Pollefeys, head of the Computer Vision and Geometry Group at ETH Zurich, and Dr Markus A. Zoller, CEO RUAG Defence.

Swiss flying high with two charter flights

An almost 200-member Swiss delegation will travel to the CeBIT on 19 March 2015 accompanied by ICTswitzerland president Ruedi Noser on a charter flight from Zurich and Bern. In addition to offering a networking lunch, tours dedicated to specific topics, a visit to IBM and a closing drinks reception at the SAP stand, the one-day programme also gives participants plenty of opportunities for personal interaction on the Swiss ICT scene. The evening before, Swiss and international company representatives will meet with CeBIT exhibitors for an informal exchange at the SWISS Executive drinks reception in the SWISS Pavilion for Research & Innovation with music provided by Swiss vocalist Cilia Hunch.
