Samsung Electronics plans to show off its brand-new Galaxy S Series model at the world’s largest mobile exhibition Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 which is set to open three days later.
The brand-new model, expected to be called the Galaxy S6, was developed under a project name “Project Zero.”
This indicates the mood surrounding Samsung which had a nightmare experience last year. Samsung reported disappointing results last year as it was defeated by Apple in the premium smartphone market and challenged by Chinese companies in the mid- and low-end smartphone market.
Against this backdrop, Samsung is pouring all its resources and capabilities into the Galaxy S6 Unpack event. Unlike the past several years when Samsung displayed a variety of new technologies and services, in addition to the new Galaxy S model, during the unpack event, Samsung this time focus only on the Galaxy S6. Samsung seems to regard it as its last card in its sleeves to reverse the situation.
