Samsung Electronics showed off its brand-new flagship smartphones Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
Under the theme of “all new Galaxy,” Samsung held an unpack event at the Convention Center in Barcelona, Spain on March 1.
Samsung developed the two new smartphones as a kind of game changers to reverse the situation where its No. 1 smartphone maker position is threatened by Apple and Xiaomi. These phones are called as “Lee Jae-Yong phone” since he, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, oversaw the entire process of their development.
Samsung suffered negative growth in both sales and operating profits last year, first since the financial crisis.
The newly-released smartphones feature a drastic improvement in design and function. They feature a battery-integrated design and a splendid design using metal and reinforced glass.
Galaxy S6 Edge, in particular, adopts the industry’s first dual edge design. In addition to having industry leading specs, they are applied with a number of new technologies, including wireless charging and magnetic card payment (Samsung Pay).
