The Huawei Watch is official, as the company just announced the first smartwatch in its line of wearables here at Mobile World Congress, confirming the leaks we saw in the days leading up to the event. It's a round Android Wear watch with a 286 ppi 1.4-inch AMOLED touchscreen that will be sold in gold, silver, and black.
Inside you will find a heart rate monitor, 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a 6-axis motion sensor, and a a Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor to power it all. It will pair to any Android phone using Bluetooth LE. Huawei will sell the watch in over 20 countries, including most of North America, Europe, and South America, but exact and pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
The company also announced a new version of its fitness wearable, the TalkBand B2. It's a less-sporty looking version that the B1 (which it announced at last year's show), and Huawei claims it offers more accurate fitness tracking than its predecessor. The B2 also now has a vertical display that looks more like a traditional watchface than the horizontal one on the B1, but it's still going to be limited to just showing things like time, steps, and what mode it's in.
The new version also carries with it the same strange functionality that the B1 had of being able to pop the device out of the band to be used as a Bluetooth earpiece. As far as using it to make calls, the B2 will offer a battery life of up to six hours of talk time or almost two full weeks on standby.
