Malta/Berlin, 25 April 2015 – Renewed growth in exhibitor demand means that once again IFA 2015 will be booked up. Four months before the event opens its doors, gfu und Messe Berlin, the organisers of IFA in Berlin, expect the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances to be yet another success.

In 2014, following more product debuts than in any other year, the drive to manufacture innovative products continues. Already, this is proof of IFA’s standing as the industry’s leading platform and meeting place and the venue for launching world firsts.

“IFA is the most important meeting place for preparing the ground for the busiest sales period of the year. Once again, it will set major trends and provide an important boost for every branch of industry involved, for the international retail trade, consumers and the media. All the signs are that IFA 2015 will be an outstanding success“, said Hans-Joachim Kamp, chairman of the supervisory board of gfu – Gesellschaft für Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik.

In 2015 the markets continue to grow

Commenting on market developments, Jürgen Boyny, global director, Consumer Electronics, GfK Retail and Technology, said: “Worldwide, we expect the positive trend to continue in 2015 and anticipate 1.5 per cent growth in the consumer electronics sector. The market for large and small electrical appliances is set to expand even more and will grow by three to four per cent. This trend will continue in 2016. Innovation is driving the markets. That means good prospects for IFA 2015, because IFA stands for innovation.”

IFA booked up again

Dr. Christian Göke, chief executive officer of Messe Berlin: “The innovation drive within the industry generates further growth. As a reflection of the markets this also has a positive impact on the global importance, growth and success of IFA.“

IFA+Summit successfully established

At IFA 2014 the new international congress format under the heading of ’IFA+Summit – Next Level Of Thinking’ celebrated its successful debut. Over a period of two days at the IFA+Summit pioneers, senior executives and entrepreneurs outlined notable trends and ideas for a digital future under the headings of Mobility, Health, Big Data, Home, Design and New Entertainment. The format will undergo further changes for IFA 2015 and the event will take place for the second time on 7 and 8 September 2015. At IFA 2015 congress and conference events will be held under the heading of the IFA Think Tank. They include the IFA International Keynotes, the IFA+ Summit Congress, the IHS Conference, IEEE, TEDx Berlin and the GfK Retail & Technology Conference.

Industry trends

IFA focuses on innovative developments and products from the worlds of consumer electronics and home appliances and will be displaying the latest trends and highlights of the months to come.

Ultra-HD screens with even more impressive colours and spectacular contrast, home cinema sound in three dimensions, innovative software platforms for intelligent interconnection, sensors for fitness and health, confectionery or fashion from the 3D printer, music from wireless networks – these are the latest consumer electronic trends.

Connectivity and the smart home, sustainability, energy efficiency and conserving resources, healthy cooking, ease of use, saving time and naturally an aesthetic appeal are the trends of the home appliances industry

IFA TecWatch - future lab

In 2015 IFA TecWatch, the place to exchange ideas for the markets of tomorrow will feature an even wider range of innovations, topics, papers and meetings of experts than at last year’s event. Four months before the show opens its doors the TecWatch Hall (11.1), which covers an estimated 3,000 square metres, is almost booked up. It features international exhibitors and an even larger number of new and creative startups.
