Global LCD TV shipments reached an all-time high at 23.9 million units in March 2015, led by Samsung and LG which go for a larger share in premium TV market on the back of SUHD TV and OLED TV.
According to market research firm DisplaySearch on May 1, the March panel shipments grew 20 percent from a month ago and 11 percent from a year ago.
By panel size, 40-inch panels accounted for the largest share of 3.3 million units, followed by 23.6-inch panels with 2.1 million units, 43-inch panels with 1.2 million units, 49-inch panels with 900,000 units, and 65-inch panels with 400,000 units.
In particular, 4K (UHD) LCD TV panel shipments marked a steep growth, led by Samsung Display and LG Display. The shipments of 4K LCD TV panels rose to 2.6 million units in March, up more than 50 percent from 1.7 million units in February.
In annual terms, however, the global LCD TV panel shipments are forecast to mark a marginal growth to 261 million units this year from 253 million units last year due to the slowing demand for overall TV business.
