The 28th International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition, also known as EVS 28, opened its curtain at Kintex in the northwestern suburb of Seoul for its four day run starting from May 3.
The event, called the Olympics of electric vehicles, was attended by about 150 companies with 400 booths, including major auto makers and parts suppliers such as Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, GM, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Hyundai Mobis. Also attended were a group of IT companies, including LG Electronics, Samsung SDI, and Qualcomm.
Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors displayed the Soul EV (electric vehicle), the Tucson FCEV (hydro fuel cell car) and LF PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle).
LG Electronics showed off an LCD dashboard for electric vehicles and lightweight platform mounted with electric vehicle components.
The lightweight platform, made of LG’s lightweight compound materials and in-house technologies, can contribute to reducing the weight of the automobile platform by up to 20 percent.
