Consumer Electronics Show Asia is set to be held in Shanghai in China from Mar 23 to last for four days for the first time in Asia. According to the Consumer Electronics Association hosting the event, 200 companies from 15 nations will join the event.

In the first CES Asia, smart cars and wearable devices will be the buzzwords, analysts predicted.

The tech tradeshow will feature smart cars as a next-generation platform to follow smartphones. Global automobile companies including Audi, Volkswagen and Ford are expected to attend the event, and Rupert Stadler, Audi’s chairman, is scheduled to give the keynote speech.

The event will also unveil the future of wearable devices. The U.S. aviation technology developer Garmin and Dutch firm TomTom are slated to attend the event to roll out their new wearable devices such as smart bands.

“At the CEO Summit during the event, chiefs of global tech and distribution firms will gather, and seek new business opportunity in the rapid growing Asian market,” said Gary Shapiro, head of Consumer Electronics Association.

Korea’s tech giants Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are not attending the event, but Samsung will join as a sponsor instead.
