Experience an extreme ride with AquaRace on the IT Convergence floor!

Those who step into the 1st IT Convergence with mere curiosity will be driven by the force of amusement to complete a journey from one side of the show to the other. Studying IT Convergence products is like piling hundreds of different toppings on to a single scoop of vanilla ice cream. By continously searching for the newest flavor, a little sprinkle of its latest discovery can turn the flavor of vanilla ice cream upside down.

Let's say there is a typical red car, and in order to reduce greenhouse gases, intelligent green automobile valves are affixed to it. Next the car is covered with a ubiquitous sensor network that allows the car to fully communicate with its driver of its needs and condition. Applying cutting-edge technology to a traditional item equals a brand new product that is innovative and efficient. New plus Old creates an inventive product that increases the quality of people's lives. This is the basic concept of IT Convergence and this idea is the core of what this first-ever historical event is trying to share with the world.

Hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy and organized by KOTRA and the Korea Venture Business Association, IT Convergence 2009 presents 200 companies and 300 booths within a 10,611 square meter area.

Displays will include new products, various examples of convergences and complex solutions.

Exhibition attendees observe remote-control solutions such as notification by mobile phone in the event of car theft, pinpointing automobile location using GPS, door-locking from a distance, as well as an ultra-high speed data modem capable of setting up an office-away-from-office environment in a car.

Korea Nissan expects to catch the eyes of car aficionados, with its exhibition of a car with cutting-edge crash-defense and distance-control systems. Also on hand will be a driving simulator providing training for highway travel.

As Korea is a world-leader in shipbuilding, another important exhibit will be the Digital Ship Booth, which will promote the convergence of IT with the industry as it relates to high-end technologies such as intelligent navigating systems and on-ship communication infrastructure.

The ITS/Electronic Government will display IT technologies introduced to transportation and administration, including the 'V2V(vehicle-to-vehicle)' system being developed by the Korea Expressway Corporation to optimize the flow of traffic around accidents, and the 'High Pass-based Transportation Information System' to realize an 'intelligent expressway' using DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication,).

The Friendship IT Export booth, representing large companies such as SK C&C, LG CNS, is aimed at engaging foreign government staff in order to dominate the B2G market.

Other IT-convergence technologies will also be previewed, including the 'U-City' project with the construction industry, the Well-Fair Convergent Platform with the medical industry, Smart Greed and Robot with the electrical industry, as well as Green S/W.

In the field of communication convergence, Samsung Networks will introduce video PC conference solutions, by which conference attendees can share documents, screens, and high-quality video clips, while connecting to other media such as PCs and telephones.

At the independent IT Convergence Future-Interaction Pavilion, a wide range of new technologies will be featured, including U-Health Care products developed by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), as well as Smart Window, OLED, RFID sensor, Tag Technique, and Flexible Display.

Meanwhile, to attract foreign investment, KOTRA will support export conferences in which the over 300 buyers circulating the exhibition can meet face to face.

World-leading IT, electronics, communications, and distribution companies such as Ingram Micro, Synnex, HP, Hitachi, Omron, NEC, and OLIVETI will visit the fair to view new IT-electronic appliances and IT-convergence products, which are expected to meet with great success.

Two Keynote speeches --'Perspective on IT-Convergence Technologies' and 'Future of IT-Convergence Technologies' -- is held at IT-Convergence Korea 2009, which is scheduled to be followed by panel discussions on 'IT Convergence and How to Secure Global Competitiveness and case histories from the automobile, U-City, medical service, ship building, smartgrid and textile fields.

Having simultaneous exhibitions of 40-year long Korea Electronic Industries and Semiconductor Fair along with Display Fair, this ultra-super sized IT Convergence offer the visitors to see all of Korean IT technologies from IT-convergence to hardware and software at one site.

From one corner to another, the IT Convergence floor is full of hot issues. Here are the top five Wonder-items of the editor's choice.

Abracadabra, a wave of the hand turns the page

Dvation Co., Ltd introduces an interactive DID (Digital information Display) system, SwingFlip. The current touch screen DID system frequently malfunctions due to excessive use, and the remaining germs on the screen have been a possible threat to the user's health. SwingFlip allows for a simple hand swinging motion to flip pages on the screen. The system consists of a motion sensor/stand and software. The sensor is installed on top of the display like a shower spray, which does not require a lot of additional space. It can be easily installed on most DID systems.

Self-Powered Robot Under Your Control

IR Robot Co., Ltd is a venture company that develops arcade robot machines. The company is displaying its new arcade machines - MaruBot Football League and LobsBot Catchers. Two to four players can play the MaruBot Football League arcade game, which encourages cooperation and teamwork. The players can control robots using joysticks on the arcade system. The other arcade game, LobsBot Catcher, is a prize redemption game. The player can use the robot to grab the ball or capsule to earn the prize inside. The robot continuously charges itself without a battery, which is patent pending.

Diabetes In-Check

H3 System Co., Ltd shows Tele-Healthcare System (GlucoAutoCheck), diabetes care program for patients and doctors. The system consists of a glucometer, blood pressure monitor, heart rate monitor and weight scale. When the device is laid on its cradle, the measured health data is transmitted to a health care center over the phone without a computer or internet connection. Doctors can review data and manage patients' information through management software, GlucoAutoCheck-web.

Video Conferencing Revolution

Samsung Networks Inc. exhibits WysMeeting services, video conferencing solution. Samsung offers three different services, Telepresence, Video Conferencing, and Web Conferencing. Telepresence uses HD video and voice to create an environment as people are meeting in the same room. It has user friendly interface, and various data can be shared between users. Video Conferencing is the service, including set-up and operation, for staff-level conferencing room using HD camera. It supports HD video quality with multiparty video conferencing. Web Conferencing is the software based conferencing service. The cost saving solution only requires internet ready PC and camera to have video conference.

Kill Background Noise

Sorizen has been developing active noise cancellation modules for audio devices, personal electronics and mobile phones. The advanced noise cancellation technology can applied in various fields. Sorizen introduces a new SiNC architecture to improve the technology. It several features including dual microphone input per channel, automatic volume control, adjusting degree of cancellation, and many more.
