Korea Electric Power Corporation, a South Korean power provider, successfully completed the first concrete forming work for unit 4 of UAE's Barakah nuclear power plant on Wednesday.
As a result, four units of APR1400 nuclear power plant at Barakah are to be constructed with local technologies.
The process rate of UAE's power plants from one to four units stood at around 50 percent as of July. The unit 1 successfully achieved the installation of nuclear reactor and a trial run is now being carried out. The construction is set to be completed in 2017 after undergoing unfuel loading.
KEPCO said the unit 2, 3, 4 will be completed by the year after completing unit 1 and this will contribute to stable electric supply to the UAE’s economy.
