Asiana Airlines, the second-largest airline in South Korea, grounded one of its A380 superjumbo jets in Bangkok due to technical problems, consequently sending nearly 400 passengers jostling for other flights out of Bangkok. The double-decker Airbus A380 is called a flying five-star hotel.
According to Asiana Airlines and the aviation industry, OZ742 flight, scheduled to take off from Bangkok at 00:15 local time on October 7, was grounded until 7:30 pm on the same day owing to faulty vertical rudder parts.
Asiana Airlines contacted the manufacturer of the A380 and replaced faulty parts with new ones airlifted from Singapore. It was Asiana Airlines’ first Airbus A380 superjumbo which the carrier took delivery of in May 2014.
