Korean manufacturing company Kolon Industries said Tuesday it has expanded the application of spundbond into industrial materials and auto parts.
The PET-typed spundbond produced by Kolon has seen a continued growth recently in the area of civil engineering drainer filters. The civil engineering drainer filters are designed to embrace device, which emits water during public works. The filters pass through water and filter out fine particles to maximize the water emission functions.
With higher tensile strength compared to other materials, Kolon’s spundbond currently has around a 70 percent market share (in terms of local PET-type drainer filter) since the first roll-out three years ago. The company has been also ramping up efforts to expand its business into overseas markets.
Industry watchers said Kolon Industries' spundbond is also gaining spotlight in the auto industry. The company has been supplying spundbond-type engine filter to Cummins, American heavy equipment provider, for three years after jointly developing the products.
