South Korean industrial conglomerate, Hyosung, said on Thursday it would dispatch a medical peace corps dubbed "Smile expedition" to Dongnai area in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh city in partnership with charity organization Korea Food for the Hungry International until Nov. 14.

With an aim of returning smile to the painful face among local residents, Hyosung has been dispatching its "Smile expedition" to the nations where the firm's overseas branches are located since 2011. Vietnam’s Dongnai is a place where Hyosung's key products spandex and tire cord are produced.

The medical peace corps has been providing treatment for local residents, who are not able to see doctor because of a long distance or financial difficulties. This year, a total of 50 people - including 23 medical workers along with Hyosung's employees in Vietnam branch -- volunteered for the activities.

Tee Kang hyung, 57, a local resident, said, "I had clinical backache but I feel much better now after I got treatment. I appreciate their help and hope to see them next year too."
