Former President of Soviet Union Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev has signed, sealed, and delivered a congratulatory message to the Asia Economic Community Forum 2009 from Russia.
He began his message by addressing Asia's strength in the world's economy. "A new Asian era is coming," he said. "First, the role of Asian countries in the world community is increasing. Asia is a big continent with many ethnic groups. Herein lies the capacity and potential for growth in Asia. Therefore, I sincerely congratulate the foundation of this Forum."
Gorbachev also noted the significance of the forum and stated, "It is also very meaningful because it is timely as we weather the heavy blow of a global finance crisis. This is the very Forum to cooperate and share hope."
Many countries in the world, including the United States, are gathering efforts to overcome the current financial crisis and find stability. As Gorvachev stated, "It is a time that urgently calls for mutual understanding, assistance and cooperation, and it is a time for all the people of the world to unite."
"As far as I know, famous scholars, experts and politicians are participating in the Asia Economic Community Forum 2009. I hope it will be an opportunity for them to find solutions to global problems and crises. I hope it will become a place for everyone to think and share opinions together. And I hope it will share its success with the entire world," Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev said as he ended his remarks.
