Chinese Breath Needs Checking, Too

Shanghai - November 11 - Seju Engineering Co., represented by one Kim Yu-mi, received an unexpected number of guests on the first day of the Asia Electronics Expo Shanghai 2009 (AEES 2009).  Ms. Kim had to interrupt the interview several times to attend to curious visitors.  The company's bad breath and intoxication checking gadget received a lot of interest from visitors all over the world, as this reporter can attest to personally.  Ms. Kim said, "About half are just curious, but half ask serious business questions."  The company is just at the show to test out the market.  They are mainly exporting to the US and Europe right now.  "Some people say we are not ready for China," Ms. Kim explained.  When asked for clarification, she said that the company's product is very high quality, but also very expensive.  There are a lot of other breath and alcohol detectors in the Chinese market already at a much cheaper price.  The company is simply satisfying its professional curiosity about the Chinese market. There are two types of alcohol detectors that the company sells. One is an LCD-based detector that gives a simple LCD number readout of the blood alcohol content, similar to what police forces use.  The other is an LED based indicator, which gives out a color-based notification of the amount of alcohol on the breath.

Unlike other booths, Ms. Kim was alone manning the Seju booth.  When asked why, she said that her colleagues were busy attending another conference at the same time.  In fact, the company originally did not intend to go to AEES but was contacted by KEA about a month previous.  Ms. Kim said, "Every year we attend the Hong Kong Electronics Fair and meet a lot of US and EU buyers." That is where the majority of the company's business comes from now.

The goal of Seju Engineering is simple, to find sales representatives in China who can take their product into the market.  The company has set the goal of meeting a buyer and exporting US$10,000 worth of product this year.  Kim Yu-mi says that with the right contact, they could meet the goal in six months.
